Emergency Services

If there's an emergency then help is at hand through the Welsh Ambulance Service, Social Services or The Carers Emergency Card Scheme.

Welsh Ambulance Service – Dementia Action Plan

The Welsh Ambulance Service plays a pivotal and direct role in helping to support people affected by dementia through the creation of a dementia-friendly Wales. The NHS Trust is committed to working towards becoming a dementia-friendly community with its Dementia Action Plan. The Dementia Plan has been developed through engagement with Alzheimer’s Society’s Service User Review Panel, the members of which all have dementia. This illustrates the Trust’s approach to “listening to the views of people affected by dementia and meeting their needs and wants”.

Social Services

You can contact Social Services in an emergency – the CAP number during office hours 01792 636519 or out of hours the emergency duty team on 01792 775501. If you are not sure who to call visit the Choose Well website.

Carers Emergency Card Scheme

Register with this scheme to get a card which will identify a carer in an emergency should you be involved in an accident or emergency. This will identify that there is someone who relies on you for their care and assistance. There is enough space for two telephone numbers on the card so that they can be contacted in an emergency. The card is produced by the Swansea Council, The Swansea Carers Centre and ABMU Health Board. Contact Swansea Carers Centre on 01792 653344.
