We have a vacancy for a Safe Haven Carer working in the Dementia Hwb for 4 days each week 11am-3pm, including 2 weekends out of 4 each month on a rota basis. Start date asap. Salary is £13.13 per hour.
The role will be to support any visitors to the Hwb who have dementia and will also have their own project work to provide a Buddy scheme for people with Early Onset Dementia. Considerable Dementia experience is required for this role, applicants with a diagnosis of dementia would be very welcome.

Safe Haven Carer with Buddy Project work

As Safe Haven Carer responsibilities will include but is not limited to:

  • Daily provision of engagement with visitors to the Hwb who have/appear to have dementia whilst their unpaid carer seeks information and/or support/li>
  • Production of monthly statistics of Safe Haven visitors and their engagement/li>
  • Keep Trustees and external stakeholders informed with monthly reporting as required/li>
  • You will support the daily operations of the Hwb including opening and closing of the Hwb, ensuring that the general look and feel of the Hwb/Information and literature is maintained/li>
  • You will be responsible for sourcing all activities needed during your working day and asking for resources to be purchased as necessary/li>
  • You will be responsible for providing one-to-one support to people with symptoms or a diagnosis of Early Onset dementia/li>
  • Carry out any other activities as reasonably asked of you by the Project Director
  • Requirements and skills

  • Interim knowledge of MS office
  • Experienced to be able to multi-task
  • Confident engaging with people who may be vulnerable and finding ways to make a connection
  • Demonstrable skills of working as part of a team that has achieved success
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • Demonstrable skills in assisting people in the community with Dementia (essential)
  • Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken
