Walking outside has many health benefits and as we have seen over the past year, it is a form of exercise that was the most accessible for people when gyms and sports clubs closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Unfortunately not everyone is able to get outdoors due to health problems. This is where the Come for a Walk project can help by bring the walks indoors.
Come for a Walk is a Heritage Lottery Funded project run by the Red Community Project who also bring us the Musical Memories Choir. The aim is to connect people to places that matter to them.
Each walk is inspired by people living with dementia and carers who have been unable to get to the places that matter to them. Join them each week as they walk and breath in some virtual fresh air together.
They have also created a DVD of 11 of their walks and sent them to 200 care homes, day centres and individuals across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire!
Send in details of a place that matters to you and they might choose to film it in the future! Follow Come For a Walk Facebook for more information.
